Respected Teachers and my dear friends, A warm good morning to one and all.
We all use the word respect quite often. But what does it
mean? It means esteem for the worth or excellence of a person.
First of all, we should respect ourselves. Each one of us is
created in God’s image. Each one of us is unique—a very special creation of
God. Therefore, each one of us should value ourselves highly.
Secondly we should respect our elders. It includes our
parents, elders, and teachers. In doing so we are respecting not only their age
but their wisdom and the good they have done to society.
Thirdly we should respect the law, our government, our
nation, our national anthem and our national flag. We should always remember
with thanks all those people who sacrificed so much for our nation’s freedom.
Finally let it be noted that love and respect go hand in
hand. The Bible says that a husband should love and respect his wife and the
wife in turn must respect her husband.
So let us respect all people who come our way–even those who
hold a different opinion than ours!
Good morning to my respected teachers and my dear friends, I would like to speech on the topic of global warming today. Global warming is mainly caused by the increasing concentration of greenhouse gases in the earth’s atmosphere. Some of the greenhouse gases are CO2, water vapour, methane, nitrous oxide and ozone. When these gases get collected to the lower environment, it makes a cover which easily allows all the hot radiations of sun to the earth however restrict its escape back to the space. This process is called as the Green House Effect. Such gases in the atmosphere trap hot radiations and keep earth warm by increasing temperature.
The level of green house gases also raise because of the human activities such as burning trees, burning fissile fuels, electric lights, use of refrigerator, microwave, air conditioner, and other electric machines. Such process releases high percentage of carbon dioxide and other green house gases into the atmosphere causing the earth temperature to rise. Rise in heat causes more water from earth to evaporate into atmosphere, water vapour again absorbs more heat and makes earth atmosphere warmer. Global warming has changed natural processes rainfall patterns, length of seasons, rise of sea level, ecology balance and many more. It is a powerful demon affecting our lives to a great extent so it needs to be solved on urgent basis by the effort of all of us.
Any individual’s overall holistic development is based on 3 aspects: emotional development, social development, and physical development. Physical education is something that didn’t have much relevance before, but now, in the current scenario where obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and juvenile diabetes figures are soaring, the need for physical education training exists. Yes, there are several needs in a child’s life that automatically get served if the child is physically active. Brain boost and overall health improvement are 2 immediate outcomes. What are other aspects of life that get benefited by adding physical education to a person’s daily routine? The body has to be made fit and strong to fulfill general life demands. Conditioning of mind won’t yield results until the physical strength aligns. If we are motivated to be physically active, mental compatibility with physical strength improves. If we train our bodies, we are also more prepared for personal well-being, and also towards service to society.
Today’s topic of discussion is how to reduce food waste. Please look at the image above. We can see that in order to stop wastage, there is a complete cycle we should follow. If we become process oriented, the task becomes easy. The first thing we can do is to be proactive and plan ahead, only buying the necessary amount of food to be consumed by a certain number of people in a fixed number of days. Okay, what more would I like to highlight? The next level in the cycle represented above concerns storing the purchased food correctly, so that the shelf life of food items can be maximized. Then, we must consider preparing meals in proportion to what we think will actually be eaten by a certain amount of people. This stops wastage immediately. Refrigerating raw food is far better than preserving cooked items. However, and this has to do with the next step in the process, even if eating all cooked food is not possible, all leftovers must be consumed before starting another cooking process. Finally, whatever cannot be eaten must be recycled, and then we must begin planning our next meals ahead.
A: Every branch of science is further divided into a number of distinct branches which are unique in their own ways. Similarly, psychology-even though it is not a hard science-is divided into two distinct groups. Let us hear what the professor has to elaborate on this.
B: Psychology is divided into two categories: pure
psychology and applied psychology. Pure psychology is also known as “the
basic branch of psychology’, and it includes the sub-branches mentioned in the
table given. General psychology takes
care of the principles of human behaviour; social psychology deals with inter-
and intra-group behaviour; child psychology studies the behaviour of
individuals from birth to puberty; abnormal psychology treats frustrations and
conflicts; animal psychology relates to animal behavior; and parapsychology
refers to the study of extrasensory perception.
A: Okay, so you mean to say every sub-branch is different
from one another?
B: Yes, interestingly enough, also in applied psychology, even though all its sub-branches share the same principles, they are also very different from one another, as their names suggest.
Sheep grow a layer of thick wool every year; that wool is sheared off the sheep annually. Normally, this shearing process is performed in the early spring, shortly after the mother sheep delivers her lambs. After the sheep’s wool is taken off, she tends to keep inside, protecting herself and her newborn from the chilly wind. The wool coat of a sheep is also called fleece, and it is rich in lanolin, an oil that is used to make skin creams. This is one of the reasons it has to be processed carefully. Also, because it contains lots of other natural substances. Now, regarding the wool processing method, first of all, fleece undergoes skirting – the process of removing useless wool, stains, and vegetable matter from the fleece. Then, it is washed, in order to remove grease, using washing agents, or acid, for a quicker result. After drying, the wool is opened to remove locks and to be put through a picker, which makes it fluffier and soft. Afterwards, the fleece undergoes carding and combing, the processes that align the fiber and divides it into fine strands. The final steps involve spinning the wool into a single strand of yarn, and then twisting these strands of wool yarn together. As you can see, there is a whole process behind a soft ball of wool that is ready to be knitted into a beautiful sweater.
